How GHPs Work
Our revolutionary geothermal heat pumps (GHPs) are driven by a basic vapor-compression refrigeration cycle (similar to the cycle used in refrigerators). GHPs extract heat from the Earth during the heating season and reject heat back into the Earth during the cooling season. They use the Earth's relatively constant temperature to provide space heating and cooling year-round. Additionally, they are useful for creating hot water in home and commercial buildings of any climate.

Key Benefits of  Geo-Exchange Systems

Geothermal Heating & Cooling systems are some of the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly systems on the market. In fact, recent studies from the US Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency have concluded that these systems have an extraordinarily low impact on the surrounding environment.

Geothermal heat pumps are typically 50% to 70% more efficient than fossil fuel furnaces. Instead of burning a combustible fuel to create heat, they simply convert and move heat that already exists. Using this highly efficient method, they are able to provide three to five times as much energy as traditional heat pump systems.

Additionally, we carry the most comfortable heating and cooling systems available. They are exceptionally quiet, produce no drafts, and create no excess heat. Our geothermal systems are by far the healthiest heating and cooling systems available on the market today. Constant air movement allows for more thorough filtration, decreasing the presence of dust and mold spores in your home.

Geo Exchange systems are also quite durable and long lasting. This extended life expectancy is possible since the unit is typically housed either inside your building or beneath the ground. Since nothing is exposed to the outside weather, it suffers less wear and tear over the long run.

The Ground Connection
GHPs are basically heating pumps that are connected to the ground. This ground connection is the link that allows the heat pump to use the Earth as a heat source or heat sink. There are several types of ground connections that can be made, but they all fall under two basic categories: Closed Loop and Open Loop.

In northeastern Pennsylvania, there are three main layouts available—closed loop vertical bore, open loop standing column, and open loop to recycle application. Contact us or visit our FAQ section for more information about which loop style is right for you.
